Leaders in Financial Education (LiFE)

Leaders in Financial Education (LiFE) is a program intended to lead efforts to promote financial education in our communities. Throughout the year Cornerstone Bank’s LiFE committee schedules and presents programs in schools, senior and civic centers and libraries. These programs are designed to teach good savings habits, how to build strong credit and how to prevent fraud and elder abuse. In addition, Cornerstone Bank opened an in school savings bank branch at York Elementary School in October of 2022. The Duke Branch is open every Thursday morning during the school year to give students an opportunity to build a savings account. Students are encouraged to set financial goals and learn the difference between “wants and needs.” At fifth grade graduation, they receive a cashier’s check for the total saved in their account. This program has proven to be a popular tool in teaching financial literacy.
